A crushing pace, a small map and ridiculous situations with the development of technologies in individual nations – in essence, this is a brief retelling of the main features Sid Meier’s Civilization: Revolution 2. To certain gameplay moments, even the most devoted fans of the long -playing series arise questions. Newcomers can be at all confused. The most important thing now is to find out whether this game is able to capture with the same force as it turned out for all other games of the series.
The format demanded victims
Civilization: Revolution 2 stands out against the backdrop of the “large” games of the series with special gamemesan solutions, some of them are controversial. Let’s start with a small map of the world. The inevitability of a close neighborhood with other countries makes itself felt very soon. You have just begun to develop your wards, build the first cities and train soldiers, as three moves after the start of the session are already visited by neighbors who want to enslave a developing state. Hence, by the way, the second significant minus follows – the limited
artificial intelligence of the virtual opponent.
If dear gentlemen from the neighboring Beijing suddenly wish to become conquerors and want to get a small monetary reward in exchange for temporary truce, you can always send them away. The war, of course, will begin, but it will pass at an extremely sluggish pace – you most likely simply will not notice it. But when the player wants to come into conflict with his neighbors, a stronger opponent will often offer you a quick truce. Imagine: the strong troops of the enemy do not give a single chance of the player’s army, but the first two in two moves still offers friendship.
“Cut” and worthless diplomacy in Civilization: Revolution 2 will disappoint all lovers of complex conversations. You can declare war, ask for money or arrange a technology exchange. And that’s all, yes. There is no banal request for the passage of soldiers through the territory of another state. If the “unit” fell into a strange cage, then this is immediately perceived as an attempt by treacherous invasion.
Unfortunately, not all negative points related to the game were listed above. The most offensive is a total imbalance in technology and the lack of “pumping” of individual “units”. Imagine: Horse knights armed with swords are able to fight back some musketeers and even aircraft for a rather long time. A detachment of archers, a detachment of archers, can wait for several hundred years in terms of the long -term corner, until the submarines and the commanddos have equipped with the latest technology, participate in battles for democracy.
But do not also forget that we are dealing with a project for mobile platforms – respectively, the demand from it is smaller. Another circumstance is more justified by the existence of a portable “civilization”. You see, it is very interesting to play it. Total simplification did not go Revolution 2 for the benefit. But it remains a very exciting game, the time for which flies completely imperceptibly.
Pros: Fascinating gameplay Civilization there is present here; The fleeting of parties compared to computer games of the series will like tablet owners.
Cons: disgusting balance;lack of development of “units”;unconvincing artificial intelligence;small cards;”Cut” diplomacy.
