It is believed that the new generation of NVIDIA RTX steeply increased prices for all laptops. In general, this is not entirely true, since with equal performance of laptop 2060 it always cost exactly the same as the models by 1070 – about 130,000 rubles. However, Dell was able to abruptly bring down this price. Its G7 on Core i5 starts with 92,000 rubles, and the model like ours – on i7 – from 106,000 rubles. Let's see where they saved here.
Appearance

Strictly assembled from smooth and slippery plastic, nothing dangles, there is a ledge behind, for which it is convenient to carry the laptop in open state, and from jewelry – only a mirror logo on the lid and the inscription G7. There are no questions on assembly. The gaps are even, the lower cover sits tight, the connectors are leveled under the slots in plastic. Perhaps the only thing we will be of is the frame around the matrix bends slightly when pressing.

As usual for IPS, you can’t complain about the angles of the view, there are no strong lights. For, in fact, the budget model G7 has an excellent matrix
Everything is standard for managing. The touchpad is office with one button and a loud click, but large and correctly defined. The keyboard is also office. In the games there are locks on combinations, the F-line is slightly cut in height, the Ctrl key was affected. However, there are no complaints about the mechanics. The shooter block and the digital panel are in place, the substrate does not walk, the keys are soft, with a short -clear tan and white backlight, which can be turned on and turned off.
The speakers are loud, they cope well with their voice and do not wheeze. They are, however, at the front end, and usually we swear for this. But today we have 17-shirt, they will rarely put it on their knees, and the speakers will not be blocked.
The connectors from the back is always convenient
But the way to the headphones surprised. This is a single 3.5 mm jack on Realtek, but it is clearly modified by the amplifier. That is, he regularly pulls 64-octane headphones and even allows you to adjust the sound for himself. In the proprietary Alienware Command Center there is a normal equalizer, emulation of sound around and even “smart” volume.
Inside
The networks are also full order. Yes, this is not 2.5 GB/s, as in top machines, but these are time -tested and relevant Killer E2500 for the wire and Killer AC 1550 on WiFi. The first, respectively, gives gigabit. The second – 256 Mbps and operates on 5 GHz.
Interesting in Dell entered with the location of the connectors. On the left side are USB Type-C with supporting Thunderbolt and a regular USB Type-A. On the right – cardrider and another USB. And behind – power, LAN, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort and another USB.
Despite the modest price, the G7 assembly quality will be better than many much more expensive models.
Now let's go on the filling. In our version there was a six-core i7-8750, it is no longer sold, it was replaced by i7-9750h, but this did not affect the price. And since we had an engineer, he had only one memory bar in him. As you know, this is not very good for games, but it allowed to conduct a small experiment. That is, we tested this laptop with both one and two planks, and the results are very interesting.
According to drives the scheme classic. Under the system – a solid -winner of 240 GB with a speed of 1.4 GB/s and a hard drive per 1 TB. Well, the video card, as you already know, is RTX 2060 without max-q posting.
The only claim to cooling is the high sound of the fans
All this is cooled by four thermal pipes and the same number of radiators. Moreover, as is now accepted, the air throws back both back and on the sides. Well, accordingly, there are two turbines. Their sound is high, but Dell is cheat and, in order not to twist the fans and not turn the laptop into a vacuum cleaner, put hard temperature and frequency restrictions.
Performance
The processor for AVX produces 3.2 GHz, in 3DSMAX – 3.6–3.8 GHz, and in games goes between 3 and 3.8 GHz. The temperature ranges from 65 to 83 degrees. The video card has similar behavior. Frequencies jump from 1500 to 1750 MHz at temperatures of 65–73 ° C.
The keyboard of the G7 is excellent, but there are locks on combinations
In normal configuration, with two slats, we received in all games from 40 FPS without failures of 0.1%. Well, in some projects, the counter flew over 100 frames. But with one bar, the system behaved much more modest. In general, in the desktop, one channel leads to a loss of 5-8% of performance. In the laptop we lost from 10 to 22%. So if you suddenly buy a laptop with one bar – urgently put the second in it. By the way, in Dell this is not hindered, that is, without losing a guarantee, you can change the memory, SSD, and a hard drive.
From the G7, as from the most affordable laptop at 2060, we were waiting for much more tricks. But they found only blocking some combinations and hanging turbines. The rest of the laptop does not differ from more expensive competitors.
